Summer/Seasonal Positions

We are hiring counselors, senior counselors, riding instructors, certified life guards and kayak instructors for Camp Greenwell and our specialty camps for summer 2017. Senior counselor and counselor positions are full-time. Online applications are being accepted now (We accept applications on a rolling basis!).

 

Orientation will be held before camp begins. Camp runs eleven weeks from mid-June through late-August.  All staff is required to be certified in First Aid and CPR/AED by a nationally recognized organization. The Greenwell Foundation will offer a certification class prior to the start of camp or certification can be obtained individually.  All staff must be proficient in swimming.

Team Leader – The responsibility of the Team Leader is to support and encourage the staff while ensuring that each site has the necessary and properly maintained equipment, instructors, and supplies needed to complete each day’s activities. In addition, they will help ensure the safety of each camper while encouraging participation in all camp activities. They will work with the staff, the campers, and their parents to deal with any concerns regarding camp and its activities. Senior Counselors – must be 18 years of age by June 1, 2017. Looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with children in an outdoor environment. Experience working with children with disabilities helpful. Outdoor experience, including hiking, kayaking and outdoor skills is beneficial. Must be a proficient swimmer.

 

Counselors – must be 16 years of age by June 1, 2017. Looking for enthusiastic individuals who are interested in learning how to be an effective Senior Counselor through direct support of all camps.   Experience working with children with disabilities helpful. Outdoor experience, including hiking, kayaking and outdoor skills is beneficial. Must be a proficient swimmer.

 

Senior Counselors for Horse Camp – must be 18 years of age by June 1, 2017. Looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with children in an outdoor environment. Experience working with children with disabilities helpful. Outdoor experience, including hiking, kayaking and outdoor skills is beneficial. Must be comfortable working around and with horses. Basic horse knowledge helpful. Must be a proficient swimmer.

 

Counselors for Horse Camp – must be 16 years of age by June 1, 2017. Looking for enthusiastic individuals who are interested in learning how to be an effective Senior Counselor through direct support of all camps. Experience working with children with disabilities helpful. Outdoor experience, including hiking, kayaking and outdoor skills is beneficial. Must be comfortable working around and with horses. Basic horse knowledge helpful. Must be a proficient swimmer.

 

Riding Instructors – must be 16 years of age by June 1, 2017. Looking for enthusiastic individuals who have experience working with horses, want to share their knowledge with campers, and enjoy working with children in an outdoor environment. Experience working with children with disabilities helpful. Instructors should have experience teaching in the ring and a riding interview will be required.

 

Kayak Instructors – Looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with children in an outdoor environment. Experience working with children with disabilities helpful. Outdoor experience is beneficial. American Canoe Association certification earns top pay. Those with comparable experience may qualify to obtain their certification. Responsibilities include maintenance of camp grounds relating to kayaking and all equipment used for kayaking, leading groups on the water in a safe environment while instructing and engaging campers in kayak activities, and working with and supporting all staff in camp activities.

 

Lifeguards – must have a current American Red Cross certification in lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid. Experience working with children with disabilities helpful. Kayaking experience recommended.

 

To ensure the safety and well-being of children served at the Greenwell Foundation, we will check the accuracy of the data you provide in the application before we consider you for a staff position. All staff will have to complete background checks, including fingerprinting, and Child Protective Services check. Senior Counselors will have to complete a Department of Motor Vehicles background check.
