Nature Discovery Time

Join us again this fall for Nature Discovery Time and give your child the chance to discover the joys of the natural world with new friends!

 

What is Nature Discovery Time?

You and your child are invited to meet us at the Greenwell Foundation, every Tuesday morning, for outdoor discoveries and learning, from September to May.

Start Date: September 26, 2017
End Date: May 1, 2018

When: Every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Where: Outdoor Classroom at Clubhouse One
Directions: Enter Greenwell State Park on Rosedale Manor Drive, go straight on the gravel, dirt road, between the fields, and take your first right. Park in the lot straight ahead and look for us in the outdoor classroom on the left.

Ages: up to 6 years old

Cost: $5 per child
Registration not required. Children attend with their adult

Activities: Sensory Play, Games, Songs, Art, Music, Stories, Seasonal Activities, Dance, and More

 

What to bring:

We will be outside the majority of the time so bring what you need to be comfortable outside, regardless of the weather…

-Refillable Water Bottle
-Snack
-Sunscreen
-Bug Spray
-Coat
-Long Underwear
-Rain Jacket
-Boots
-Extra Socks
-Garbage bag in case car needs protection from happy, muddy child
-Warm Layers
-Dry Change of Clothes

What to expect:

We may be walking up to a half mile and back so we can explore and learn from different habitats.

 

What might your child do at Nature Discovery Time?

*Experience play-based, child-centered, experiential learning
*Advance their emergent literacy skills through developmentally appropriate activities
*Sing and dance to songs and rhymes
*Create mud pies and snow people
*Learn conflict resolution with friends
*Develop their gross and fine motor skills
*Have fun playing games and running
*Engage in sensory explorations with materials like sand, water, ice, mud, moss, grass, and leaves
*Jump in puddles or a pile of crunchy leaves and laugh
*Share stories of their day with friends
*Discover and curiously watch a critter crawling on a stick
*Squeal with joy
*Fall in love with being outside
