Camp Host Homes, An Outdoor Health Initiative, is a plan to construct a non-traditional housing unit that will serve displaced veterans by providing a place for them to re-establish their lives. As soon as it is complete, we begin construction on a second unit.

Camp Host Homes, An Outdoor Health Initiative program will operate inside Greenwell State Park as a part of the Greenwell Foundation. The park has 600 acres, an array of wildlife, waterfront views, trails, and an accessible kayak launch.

Living close to nature has been attributed to an increase in overall health and is referred to as outdoor health. Outdoor health is the improvement in physical and mental health created by living close to nature. From operating programs at Greenwell we know that being outdoors has proven to be the most effective means of overcoming a variety of physical and mental challenges that many veterans face.

The Three Oaks Homeless Shelter will assist the Greenwell Foundation with refinement of the program to create the overall best environment for the veterans. Students at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center are building the houses.

Donations are needed to support the construction of these homes. Sponsorships are available and donation of materials can be considered. Please contact us for more information.
