All of the programs and activities at Greenwell are possible thanks to the efforts and dedication of many volunteers. Many opportunities exist, from working in the barn to assisting with the Equestrian Program and helping with camps. Volunteers also maintain the trails and tend the gardens. Whether it’s for a few hours a week or many hours a month, volunteers are the heart of Greenwell, donating their time, energy, and expertise in many ways.

Camp Buddies
Boost your resume/college application credentials, spend your summer outdoors, help your community, make new friends, discover your potential talents or interests, and have a fun summer!

In-Arena Equestrian, Barn Volunteers
Volunteers serve as side walkers and leaders in Greenwell’s Equestrian Program. No experience with horses is necessary; training is provided. Volunteers are also needed to muck stalls, clean pastures, and tack and groom horses.

‘Poo Crew’
We have one of the best riding and therapeutic equestrian programs in the area. That means we have horses… and they get things dirty. A few volunteers who don’t mind some stink and can scoop poo to keep our horse run-in sheds clean will help keep our horses happy and healthy! Needs: 2x per month, 2-6 hours, flexible schedule. Training is provided for safety and interacting with the horses since you will be in the field with them.

Open Barn
Open Barn hours are held (almost) every Saturday from 9am-noon. It’s an opportunity for people to meet horses, watch riding lessons and learn about our equestrian programs. We are always looking for volunteers to help greet and engage visitors, answer questions about our programs and share the Greenwell love.

Vets Helping Vets
This program links generations of veterans. Both recent and seasoned veterans have a common bond to be discovered through an afternoon fishing on a pier or enjoying a waterside picnic lunch. Volunteers, especially veterans (and active duty military personnel) are always needed.

We have several gardens throughout the park that need monthly maintenance and care.

Project Designers/Engineers
Many of our projects are in need of project specs. We have the Pinterest pictures of the awesome items that will add beauty, interaction, and education to the park and our programs. Examples include obstacle courses for the Equestrian Program or water walls for Camp Greenwell. We need volunteers who can help create project directions and estimate costs.

Special Events
We have several events every year and are always looking for volunteers to help us out.

Camp Hosts
Greenwell has a camp host program for people who would like to volunteer at least 20 hours or more per week in exchange for an RV site. The site offers full-service hook-up including water, sewer and electric. The minimum length of stay is one month; longer stays are welcome.

Earn college credit, enhance your skills and build a portfolio. Several opportunities exist throughout the Greenwell Foundation including internships with our inclusive camp and equestrian programs, rentals/special events, and communications.
Apply online (Please note, the application requires you to upload a resume.)

Volunteer Mounted Patrol & Volunteer Rangers
Patrol the park on your own mount to provide security and to help identify maintenance and safety concerns. Members of the Volunteer Mounted Patrol also help with special events held at the park. The Volunteer Mounted Patrol program requires 40 hours of volunteer time to enroll, 100 hours of volunteer time commitment annually, attendance at annual Volunteer Ranger Training, and assessment/certification of horse and rider.
