Due to COVID-19, we are saddened to say that we will not have summer camp this year. However, we are excited to offer small group and family activities. Check out all the ways to get outdoors!
Fishing Camp
Fishing camp campers are able to learn about the skill, fun and serenity that come along with fishing from the skilled and passionate members of the Southern Maryland Recreational Fishing Organization (SMRFO). The week begins with on-land instruction where campers learn how to tie lures, cast a line and what fish can be found in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The campers will then use their new skills to try out the fishing on the Patuxent River from the pier. Mid-week, they will have the opportunity to go fishing with members of SMRFO on fishing boats out on the waters of the Patuxent River. Additional time is spent learning and refining fishing skills, and the week finishes off with the fun of crabbing from the boat launch area.
In addition to all the fishing, campers will also have the opportunity to play field games. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week a chance to make S’mores. The week ends with “Tie-Dye Friday” for a take-home memory of the week at camp.
Fishing Camp is for children ages 7 – 14 (by first day of camp session).
Fishing Camp is offered for three weeks of our summer camp program. Both AM and PM Extended care and Drop-In Extended Care is available.
