Fishing Camp
Fishing Camp
Fishing camp campers are able to learn about the skill, fun and serenity that come along with fishing from the skilled and passionate members of the Southern Maryland Recreational Fishing Organization (SMRFO). The week begins with on-land instruction where campers learn how to tie lures, cast a line and what fish can be found in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The campers will then use their new skills to try out the fishing on the Patuxent River from the pier. Mid-week, they will have the opportunity to go fishing with members of SMRFO on fishing boats out on the waters of the Patuxent River. Additional time is spent learning and refining fishing skills, and the week finishes off with the fun of crabbing from the boat launch area.
In addition to all the fishing, campers will also have the opportunity to play field games. Each week a chance to make S’mores. The week ends with “Tie-Dye Friday” for a take-home memory of the week at camp.
