OPEN THE OUTDOORS – Kayaking
We offer 3 types of kayaking trips:
- Kayak Lessons
Want to go kayaking, but unsure of your skill level or want to become comfortable on the water? Lessons are offered for ages 7 years and up. Each lesson is 1 hour in duration. Instruction will be given on paddling techniques, safety, non-skirted wet exits and entry, body posture, technique improvement, strokes, and more. The instructor would be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have about kayaking, whether it be how to properly secure your kayak on a vehicle or balancing in your kayak.
Lessons are available Saturdays at 9:00am and Sundays at 9:00am.
$50 each person
Want to go fishing from a boat, but don’t have one? Come out for a 1 hour fishing trip on a kayak with all equipment and a launch provided. Kayak fishing is a guided trip that lasts 1 hour on the beautiful Patuxent River. There are several inlets around Greenwell State Park that we can go into and fish. Per the discretion of the instructor, and the skill level of the participant(s), we can go out into the river a little bit. For kayak fishing we use only single kayaks. The trips also offer the opportunity for wildlife viewing and a peaceful setting on the water.
Private kayak fishing groups are for 1-2 people. Kayaking fishing can also accommodate a group setting of 3-5 people.
